Our Strength Training Oncology Group (STRONG) Program is specifically designed for individuals who are fighting cancer.
Our male-only and female-only exercise groups provide a peer-support network, and are based on strong and growing evidence for the role of exercise as part of cancer treatment.
Our group is open to individuals at any stage of their cancer journey, before, during or after treatment.
Our Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) will take into consideration your diagnosis, treatment schedule, side-effects, energy levels, pain, co-existing health concerns and any other relevant factors to develop an appropriate exercise plan to help you take back control of your health and well-being.
After completing an initial consultation with our AEP, the program
consists of 2 x 60min group sessions per week for 12 weeks, as
well as a home exercise plan to complete independently.
How Do I Get Involved?
Ideally we request a referral from a member of your treatment team,
such as your oncologist, oncology nurse or GP. A copy of the referral
form can be downloaded below.
Where possible, we like to keep in contact with your treatment team
in order to make sure we are providing you with the most appropriate exercise plan possible based on up to date information.
